Cadmium Accumulation in Cereal Crops and Tobacco: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic heavy metal with no known biological function in plants and one of the most substances released into environment. Crops, such as rice, maize, wheat tobacco are major sources Cd for humans. toxicity inhibits crop growth development by affecting many central physiological biochemical processes, finally it affects human health via food chain. To adapt to toxicity, crops have evolved series detoxification mechanisms. Immediate responses include rapid changes at transcriptional level simultaneous metabolic levels. However, long-term involve genetic modifications epigenetic changes. During last decade, genes involved uptake translocation been identified, them transporters. decrease accumulation cereal grains leaves, number approaches proposed, including physical chemical methods, developing planting low genotypes using transgenic strategies or marker–trait association breeding. In this review, we describe body, advances molecular mechanisms tobacco, accumulation.

Relationships of cereal crops and other grasses.
The grass family includes some 10,000 species, and it encompasses tremendous morphological, physiological, ecological, and genetic diversity. The phylogeny of the family is becoming increasingly well understood. There were two major radiations of grasses, an early diversification leading to the subfamilies Pooideae, Bambusoideae, and Oryzoideae, and a later one leading to Panicoideae, Chloridoi...

A Review on the Cadmium Content of Rice, Daily Cadmium Intake, and Accumulation in the Kidneys: Tomoyuki KAWADA, et al. Department of Public Health, Gunma University School of Medicine—The body burden of cadmium primarily depends on the daily intake of the element in food, and thus the geographical differences in cadmium content in foods and the daily intake of cadmium should be studied. There ...

Characteristics of accumulation and tolerance of cadmium (Cd) in green manure crops were investigated to identify Cd-accumulating crops and to clarify the mechanisms involved in Cd accumulation and tolerance. Seedlings of eight crop species were treated with Cd (1 mg l(-1) or 5 mg l(-1)) in the growing medium for 4 d. Cd concentration in leaves of Avena strigosa Schreb. cv. New-oat, Crotalaria ...
متن کاملRecent advances in molecular tool development for drought tolerance breeding in cereal crops: a review
Drought stress is one of the major yield constraints for cereal crops. Traditionally, for developing drought tolerant cultivars, selection either direct or indirect is practiced. Although this approach is effective, yet time consuming and labour intensive. Identification of drought related quantitative trait loci (QTLs) coupled with marker assisted selection has shown some positive results. Tra...
متن کاملGenetic transformation of major cereal crops.
Of the more than 50,000 edible plant species in the world, at least 10,000 species are cereal grains. Three major cereal crops, rice (Oryza sativa), maize (Zea mays), and wheat (Triticum sp.), provide two-thirds of the world's food energy intake. Although crop yields have improved tremendously thanks to technological advances in the past 50 years, population increases and climate changes contin...
